Until now, if you wanted to transcribe a voice message in a Signal group, you had to:

  1. Receive the voice message in the group
  2. Forward it to SignalWhisperBot
  3. Wait for the transcription
  4. Copy the text
  5. Paste it back into the group

This manual process was frustrating, especially for teams and professionals who receive multiple voice messages daily in group conversations.

The Solution: Automatic Transcription in Groups

Now, you can add SignalWhisperBot directly to any Signal group. When someone sends a voice message, the bot automatically transcribes it and posts the transcription in the group - no forwarding needed.

  1. Add the bot to your group - You must be a group admin to add SignalWhisperBot
  2. Voice messages are transcribed automatically - When someone sends a voice message, the bot processes it instantly
  3. Transcription appears in the group - Everyone sees the text, no need to listen

Group Limits by Plan

Group transcription is available on all plans, with different limits:

  • Free plan: 1 group
  • Speaker plan (€5.99/month): 3 groups
  • Pro plan (€12.99/month): 10 groups
  • Pro+ plan (€19.99/month): Unlimited groups

Your monthly transcription quota applies to all transcriptions (groups + private messages combined). For example, if you have the Free plan with 10 minutes per month, those 10 minutes cover both your private transcriptions and group transcriptions.

Privacy & Security

Group transcription follows the same strict privacy standards as our 1-to-1 transcription:

  • EU-based processing - All transcription happens on servers in the EU
  • GDPR compliant - Full compliance with European data protection laws
  • Immediate deletion - Audio is deleted as soon as transcription is complete
  • No AI training - Your data is never used to train AI models

Only group members see the transcriptions. The bot does not store any conversation history.

Technical Details

Who gets billed? The first group admin with an active subscription and available quota is billed for transcriptions. If you’re the only admin with a subscription, transcriptions count against your quota.

What if quota is exhausted? If no admin has available quota, the bot sends a message in the group indicating that transcription is unavailable. Admins can type /upgrade in a private conversation with the bot to see upgrade options.

Multiple admins with subscriptions? The first admin in the admin list with available quota is billed. If their quota runs out, the bot automatically tries the next admin’s quota.

Group settings? Currently, transcriptions use the settings of the admin who is billed (language, diarization, etc.). Group-specific settings may be added in a future update based on user feedback.
